Two groups are competing to create a new business improvement district (BID) in the Arts District.  About four months ago, a judge ordered the dissolution of the Arts District Business Improvement District.  Since then, many in the community have expressed an interest in restoring security and sanitation services.  The two groups that have emerged to address those concerns will present their plans and respond to queries from stakeholders at the forum at SCI-Arc on October 13.  A moderator from Council District 14 will facilitate the discussion.

The two competing entities,  Arts District Los Angeles (ADLA) and the Arts District Community Council of Los Angeles (ADCCLA) are both newly-organized 501(c)3 non-profit California public benefit corporations.

According to its website,  ADLA’s goal is to reestablish a business improvement district to provide public safety and sanitation services.   ADLA is an independent organization made up of Arts District property owners and is not affiliated with CCEA (the entity that managed the previous Arts District BID).

The ADCCLA website describes the goals of that group as bringing back the same level of safe and clean that the community was accustomed to but with a sustainable approach.  ADCCLA’s program will allow for businesses and neighborhood stakeholders to access additional specialized services on an as-needed basis.

For more information on both groups, see their websites:

artsdistrictla.org (ADLA)

adccla.org (ADCCLA)

Also, both groups are guided by BID consultants and for more information on the backgrounds and guiding philosophies of each, see:

The event is organized by LARABA with the generous support of SCI-Arc.

The Arts District is a community of downtown Los Angeles bounded by 7th St. on the south, the LA River to the east,  Alameda to the west and the 101Freeway to the north.
