Matt Aston: Movie Posters — Closing Show
District Gallery, 740 E. Third St. (just off Traction)
Matt Aston’s portraits — particularly his self portraits, often appear
to emerge seamlessly from abstract elements. Now he has extended
his self portrait series into a new realm: movie posters featuring the
artist as the hero.
The limited edition posters are a whimsical commentary on pop
culture and self-obsession that owe as much to Cindy Sherman as
Saul Bass.
The show at District gallery includes prop guns and trailers featuring
the artist in a variety of roles.
Join us at the closing reception Friday evening.
There will be wine.
