The Arts District loses one of their own

Lance Van Gils, the son of Art Share LA workshop teacher and local designer Christina Borraez, was discovered the morning of July 12, 2013 in the Los Angeles River at the bottom of the 1st Street Bridge. His life tragically and unexpectedly ended sometime the night before as he was walking home after an evening that included working out at the gym and hanging with friends at local art galleries—a police investigation is underway. Family and friends are hosting an art auction fundraiser to help with the costs of the funeral and service. Over 30 artists have donated work. The event is this Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00.
